The Black Pearl

Good evening to all you lovely people out there, reading my blog!
So today I have all things nautical and beautiful to share with you.

Following yesterdays blog post about mystical creatures, I thought this would be a perfect subject for the follow up blog post.
Recently I have come across some seriously wonderful companies and so I really enjoy sharing them with you all, especially on the lead up to my favourite holiday season.. Christmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas!!!
I would like to introduce to you all, the wonderful world of.. Mermaid's Grave
Mermaid's Grave are a beautiful company based in the UK that specialise in creating wonderfully fragranced, natural soy candles that are available in small and large sizes, beautiful scents and are all handmade by the owner of the company Mel. They all come in beautiful glass amber jars, that can always be re used!

They also sell items of jewellery, things that I have never seen before, such as the beautiful Clam Shell Locket Ring that opens just like a real clam, with a beautiful little gem hidden inside, and three colours of fresh water pearl earrings, that are just so gorgeous!
(as seen in the image above)
There are four main fragrances of candles, explained on the website
(Click HERE  to read all about their fragrances)
Personally, my favourite fragrance being; Black Pearl (hence the blog title) - warming coffee with a hint of hazelnut.. Absolutely delicious!
The soy candles have added glitz into their candles in order to celebrate the festive season of CHRISTMASSSSS, giving your home that added glisten, sparkle and festive cheer!

I am a nautical and vintage antique obsessed Disney fan that would really love to be a mermaid or a pirate! So as you could imagine, discovering this company will not be good for my bank balance, though my home will smell absolutely delicious and wearing the jewellery will make me very happy.
My favourite of their jewellery is the Kraken Necklace, theres just something about this one that I really love! And the fact that I have an awful lot of necklaces.. This one will fit into my collection perfect, I just love it and i'm sure you will too!
<3

I cant stress just how much I adore all the items for sale from Mermaids Grave and they are so perfect for Christmas, for those who love 'under the sea' things or who just love jewellery in general or for those who love yummy smelling candles.. You really cant go wrong.
Follow their INSTAGRAM - @Mermaidsgrave
Follow their FACEBOOK
and take a peak at their WEBSITE
or even click their advertisement to the right of this blog post.

After finding this company and blogging about them, I have been inspired to do some nautical and mystical style illustrations that I will be working on over the next few days, and I can not wait to share with you all!

Thank-you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post and hearing all about Mermaids Grave, I hope it has helped you with Christmas shopping if you have been stuck on what to get someone you love, or stuck on what to get your secret santa?!

Unicorns and Sick Plugs

Today I come to you good people of the world to talk all about an amazing mystical creature! <3
Today I had created yet another illustration for a lovely lady! We met through Instagram and seemed to have hit it off as we have a hell of a lot in common, especially our love for all things Disney!
She really praised my illustrations and asked if I could do one for her, so of course I accepted the challenge, and I really enjoyed creating this for her!
The illustration is of a beautiful little unicorn!
This was a challenge because I have never drawn one of these magical creatures before and I did struggle slightly with if I should add wings.. and what colours she should be... In the end I decided yes.. She is a beautiful, magical creature so she should have wings! Purples and Pinks I felt were the best colours for her as it is a beautiful girl.. And here she is (I hope you like her!)
<3

Thankyou to the beautiful Miss Jade Marie for contacting me and ordering an illustration.
I hope you really love her & hope she looks wonderful up on your wall in a gorgeous vintage frame!
Remember guys.. I love to draw!
If there is anything you wish to be drawn custom for you, or if you wish for an illustration as a design for something you sell, contact me via my email: jodie_sawyer@outlook.com

On a different note.. ITS CHRISTMAS! Soon..

Introducing RepTilia

Recently I am enjoying sharing companies with you that I really admire, and todays blog post is no exception. Introducing... RepTilia.
RepTilia is a clothing company, based around a group of very talented tattooists living here in the UK.
I recently came across their clothing by total accident while browsing through Sick Plugs Instagram images, they recently held a give away on their Instagram - @reptilia_art_movement, so head on over and follow them to make sure you don't miss out in future give aways and news on the clothing company.
There are a few items on their page that I particularly love designed by tattooists
Lewis Noire Williams and Ben Gadsby (shown bellow).
Read about them by clicking HERE!

These three designs caught my eye simply because of the amazing detail and colours used. I am a lover or mystical animals as well as real animals, and so the stache girl tshirt is a perfect fit into my wardrobe! I haven't come across a design quite like this before, I love it.
The beautiful colours and mix of all things that arent true to reality is what makes me love this shirt so much, along with the pendant necklaces.
I have an unbelievable amount of necklaces hanging in various places of my bedroom, and this one would set off my collection nicely *cough cough* Please Santa Clause.. Please..
Again these caught my eye because of the beautiful colours, and the bunny reminded me of Alice In Wonderland, yet another huge obsession of mine.
Moral of the story is... Head on over to RepTilia and don't be sorry you did so!
(Their advertisement is to the right on my blog, scroll down and take a peak!)

Hi Ho Hi Ho Its On The Plugs I Go..

So as promised.. Here is a tad piece of great news that I have been dying to tell everybody in the world, shout it from the roof tops, scream it from the top of my lungs!
As I mentioned in my very first blog post, I have a design that will be made into plugs through the wonderful, creative, spectacular store that is Sick Plugs!
Working closely with the wonderful Tori, she loved a piece of art work that I had sent her for her office wall.. So much so that it will now be made into a plug design, sold by her on Sick Plugs.
This may not be the most exciting news for everyone reading, but I am extremely excited about the idea of my art to be worn by the gorgeous, alternative crowd of awesome people of the wooooorld!
aaaaaaaaaand calm..
I really love all things Disney, and the design I had created was based on my absolute favourite princess of all.. Snow White.. But a little different than you would be used to seeing her, and here she is...

I am so proud of myself, I could never have imagined something like this would happen to me. A huge Thank-you is owed to Tori for giving me the opportunity to work with her and for giving me the chance to spread my artwork around for all to see and wear <3
The plugs will be available to buy from her beautiful store early 2014, but I just had to share the news with you now because I am just too excited!
So keep your eyes peeled just after Christmas, and grab my plugs!
Buuuuuuuut.. while your waiting.. Why not head on over to Sick Plugs and grab yourself something pretty for the party season.
Let me all know what you think, I would love to see your comments.

Thankyou all for reading,
I hope you enjoyed todays post.

Pass it on..

Draw Me A Monkey

Hello there everybody, what a cold cold evening we are having, if your from down south like me!
I hope you are all feeling well and wrapping up and keeping warm, its so cold cold cold!

This evening's blog post is inspired by a true friend of mine who is going through a hard time at the moment. It is important to treat those around you with the love they deserve, no one deserves to feel second best or worthless. Everyone should be made to feel loved and wanted.

It is important to focus on things in life that really and truly make you happy inside, and a few of those things for me are;
My boyfriend, my best friend Paige Joanna, my doggies and a nice old cuppa' tea!

Today I would like to show you an amazing artist who creates portraits of the furry friends in your life, and does an absolutely beautiful job. The name of her company is
Draw Me A Monkey (Hence the blog title! Click the name for her Facebook page).

Recently I have moved out from my mums house and 'flown the nest' to my own little place, and having a beautiful portrait of my two dogs and my tortoise was just what my bare walls needed! Draw Me A Monkey, done this for me, amazingly. I could not believe my eyes when she sent me the image she had created.. And here it is..

For those of you who have seen my Instagram page, or who know me quite well, will know my boys are my world! (Top doggie is Harry, bottom doggie is Dexter.. And yes this is their names as I am a hugely obsessed with Dexter the TV show..).

I think you will agree, this portrait style drawing done for me is totally accurate and beautifully finished. Take a look through her Facebook page for other portraits she has done for other animal loving pet owners.
Maybe the perfect Christmas gift for someone close to your heart? And what a wonderfully personal gift it would be.. Christmas is just around the corner!

I also love to draw, as you have probably seen in my previous posts, and if you are after an animal illustration or want some kind of design for something you sell, please feel free to contact me on my email: jodie_sawyer@outlook.com

Thankyou for reading again today,
I hope you think my boys are as beautiful as I do <3

Pass it on..
lots 'o' love

But What Does He Say...?

Blog title given to my by my boyfriend, relating to the rather strange song about a fox..
Todays blog post is kind of in dedication to my best friend Paige Joanna Calvert an extremely talented illustrator and fashion and lifestyle blogger. (Go take a look)!

After visiting her in her new flat last week she asked me to do an illustration or drawing for her feature wall. With my huge love for animals, this was an easy decision!
"I am going to draw you a fox!" I said..
And after about two hours of work this evening.. Here he is! - I hope you like him.
<3

I added in the roses as the fox alone looked like he needed some bright colour, so I gave him a little bed of roses to be sat in, linking with the reds in his fur, I feel this fits perfectly.
I thought sharing this illustration with you would give you a better feel of my personality, showing my love for animals and how much I really love to draw! This is what I got up to today.. As well as putting up my little Christmas tree (as seen on my Instagram page).
The last two posts have been about foxes.. this will change in the future, just a coincidence! Nether the less, I hope you have enjoyed reading the posts and taking a peak
at my illustrations.

Thank-you for reading todays post, stay tuned <3
Pass it on,
lots 'o' love

Jodie Takes A Trip

Good Morning to all my awesome readers..

Blog post number two for me! Thought I should share a little wish list from a really cute clothing company I have recently discovered called; Alice Takes A Trip. Hence my blog title.. I sadly didn't actually take a trip.

To those of you who know me well, or those of you who have taken a little peak at my Instagram, you will know I am a massive lover of animals (and those of you reading my blog.. You will get to see this about me).
I have two small dogs myself, a kitty cat and a tortoise.. I would have a hell of a lot more, possibly a zoo, if I was able to! Two animals in particular that I really do love are Owls & Foxes. Both of which I would love to give a home <3

My strong passion for animals is what keeps me going each day, and I seem to share this passion with the two ladies that own and run the beautiful clothing label I will be sharing with you in todays blog post, at Alice Takes A Trip
The label was started in Sheffield, and is heavily influenced by the street culture, music and art there, as stated in the About Alice section of the website. (Go take a look, you will fall in love with the clothes as much as I have!)

These items are my favourites because they are so unique, I haven't seen clothing so uniquely and beautifully designed as these. I may be biased because of my huge love for these two animals, but they are oh so cute!
The label also has simpler and non-animal based designed clothing so there is a little something out there for you all, take a look and buy things!
Thought I would try something (bellow)

Hope you enjoyed reading!
Pass it on <3

Sick Plugs & Illustrations

Hey everyone, thank-you for reading!
Introducing.. Me.
I have had blogs before but this one will be 100% me, all the website work and illustrations I create! Here is my space to upload all my stuff to the internets!

For the first blog post on my new named space on the web, I will be sharing with you an illustration I am so proud of. Working closely with the lovely lady of Sick Plugs, an awesome plug store that I have been honoured to be a part of, I have recently done some designs for her (which will be available to buy shortly, illustrations to follow in future posts). I have also been the designer of the gift vouchers that will be sold as of 01/12/13 for those picky and 'hard to choose for' people you will be buying gifts for this Christmas. The voucher are available from £5 and upwards. This is a huge opportunity for me, as I don't have much luck in my life, and this seems to be a huge dose of it.

So.. I had developed these illustrations (bellow) based on the header of Sick Plugs, the model Terri Altilar, and I added some christmassy features to her beautiful face to give the perfect christmassy feel to the awesome vouchers!

I am working closely with the lovely lady from Sick Plugs so keep your eye on my blog for updates and more illustrations and plug updates! Head on over to her website now and take a look at the creative and fun designs she supplies, including Snow Globe Plugs!! Perfect Christmas present! I have the purple snow globe plugs, and everyone that see's them is super impressed <3

I hope you enjoyed my first blog post and will stay tuned for future posts!

Pass it on <3
